About the performance

The performance deals with the ever-topical issue of children left alone at home, unaware of the dangers they are facing.

The performance is based on the well-known Grimm's fairy tale The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats. The challenge for the performance came from the ever topical theme of children who stay at home alone and are unaware of the dangers that lurk in front of them. The performance was the 2001 directorial debut of Robert Waltl, then a graduate of acting at the AGRFT in Ljubljana, later an actor at the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre, founder and director of Mini teater and organiser of numerous children's events in Slovenia. The art design was prepared by painter Daniel Demšar, who, in addition to his artistic work, is involved in designing sets, costumes and puppets for all the most prominent puppet theatres in Slovenia. He has created numerous human, animal and imaginary creatures to enhance the verbal messages of puppet shows. The music, which is based on ethno motifs, has been given a modern twist by Peter Kus, a composer who has scored several dance, children's shows and silent films, a former leader of the Pavel Vlasov Sextet and a member of the ethno group Tolovaj Mataj.

A mother goat takes care of a bunch of children on her own, so despite the danger that lurks for them, she has to leave the forest to find food. She warns the children about the wolf, but the wolf deceives them while she is away. When they open the door to him, he shoves them into a sack and escapes. The events are watched by the neighbours, Ignacij the duckman and his wife Amalija. They tell their mother about the accident and help her to find the wolf and rescue the kids.
