This popular classical story about three little pigs, their quarrels on building material for their houses and their confrontation with the wolf, served as ground material for various adaptations all over the world. So, Pavel Polak, one of the most popular Czech puppet directors aknowledged all over Europe, accepted our invitation to adapt the text for our youngest spectators. He worked with Mini teater before with the puppet performance Tom-Thumb, where he succeeded in establishing his very own approach to the puppet and the actor. Pavel Polak is a minimalistic director who succeeds in creating the magic beauty of a fairy tale by using simple theatrical means, conveying then this magic to the children. The visual design of the performance, made by the Czech plastic-art, film and puppet artist Jaroslav Milfajt, represents a mixture of the well known Czech tradition in puppet design and the modern visuality. The playfulness of the performance is completed with songs and a number of witty remarks.
Pavel Polak belongs to the most prominent Czech directors of the present time. He was born in 1942. He graduated at the DAMU, the Academy of Performing Arts, as director and dramaturgist of puppet theatre. From 1965 to 1994, he worked as an actor, a dramaturgist and director at the Liberec puppet theatre. He directed over 100 performances for children within the Czech Republic, 2 performances in Germany, and 4 in Austria. In Slovenia, he mainly worked with the Puppet Theatre Maribor (When Mr. Star Comes; The Pretty Polona and the Waterman; Concerto Grosso; Snowhite; Cinderella; Butalci; The Circus Is Coming; Fairy Tales, Where Are You?; Sunny, Where Are You?; The Story about Light; 3 Stories about the Rabbit; The Charmed Princess), and with Mini teater (The Dwarf; Three Little Pigs)
