From June 22 until August 31, the city of Ljubljana is hosting already the 10th MINI SUMMER Festival organized by Mini teater. This international puppet and theatre festival taking place every summer Sunday on Ljubljana Castle on different locations since 1999 has become the most popular and the biggest festival for children in Slovenia. This year we are presenting 22 performances from different theatres and individuals. In the frame of the programme for children we are hosting theatres, groups and individuals from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain, France, Bulgaria, Czechia, Austria and Israel. Beside performances we organize creative workshops and the pagean school for young pages and dames (every Sunday a set is placed – a tent or a battle carriage); we place the so called riksha for children, the playground for babies, and even the Photo Point.
In nine years the festival has achieved international reputation, good reviews from the professional public and an extraordinary number of spectators of all ages. Different languages, different puppet techniques and different approaches to puppetry art contribute to a richer and better cultural image of Slovenia and its capital Ljubljana.
The solemn opening of the Festival will take place on June 29 on Ljubljana Castle with the opening of the Exhibition of puppets created by Milan Klemenčič and the Exhibition of puppets created by students of Pedagogic Faculty under mentorship of the professor Edi Majaron.
The Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, the City Municipality of Ljubljana, Department of culture, the Board of Tourism Ljubljana, and others.
