The Donkey of Nazareth in the Puppet Festival in Minsk in Belarus

THE DONKEY OF NAZARETH IN THE PUPPET FESTIVAL IN MINSK

On October 6, 2008, at 11:00 and 14:00, the puppet performance The Donkey of Nazareth will be performed within the Belarusian international puppet festival in Minsk. On October 3, the Belarusian National Puppet Theatre in Minsk as the festival organizer supported by the City Authorities and the Belarusian Ministry of Culture, solemnly opened the festival which will close on October 8. Theatres from Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Russia, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Poland, Ukraine and Slovenia will present 24 performances altogether. Within the frame of the festival also street performances, creative workshops, meetings, and night club-scenes with ensembles will take place.

The text for the The Donkey of Nazareth was written by following the Slovenian carol-singing motives. The performance was directed by Robert Waltl, who appears also as actor in the performance accompanied by the singers Emir Jušič Piber and Edi Strah in alternation with Edi Majaron. The performance had its opening night already in the year 1996. It was created in co-production between Freyer teater, Ljubljana and Mini teater, Ljubljana.
