Mini teater’s and Svetlana Makarovič’s hit puppet performance The Mishmash Bakery will guest appear at the 20th International festival of Puppet Theater in Plovdiv, Bulgaria!

At the 20th International festival of Puppet Theater in Plovdiv, Bulgaria that will take place from 4th to 8th September 2012 Mini teater will guest appear and perform on the second day – September 5th 2012 with Svetlana Makarovič’s story and hit puppet performance The Mishmash Bakery.

How the good baker Mishmash bakes his bread and what is the secret of the bakery that is known in all the next door villages was revealed in the new Mini teater’s puppet hit performance The Mishmash Bakery (premiere night 21st February 2012). Legendary tale of the goodness of a humble baker Mishmash that gives free bread to poor and of meand and mouthful Jedrt was also directed in Croatia and presented on the premiere night on March 18th 2012 in ZeKaeM (Zagrebačko kazalište mladih, Croatia) and on April 22nd 2012 in State Puppet theater Brest in Belarus in Russian. The performance that was created in terms of the international European project Puppet Nomad Academy 2, that is co-financed by the European commission program Culture (2007-2013) and was managed under the leadership and coordination by Mini teater will guest appear at the 20th International festival of Puppet theater in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

These are the words announcing the renowned festival of puppet theater Plovdiv in Bulgaria.

Aims of the festival in 2012 are:

  • To encourage and develop the chamber puppet plays for children and adults.
  • To introduce the modern tendencies and the newest art developments in the field of the chamber puppet art.
  • To present in front of wide audience, in the festival’s additional event named TheatAir, street performances and shows, made specially for open-air and showing the contemporary tendencies in the theatre who is in direct contact with the audience and that is not relevant to any stage.
  • To help the distribution in Bulgaria and abroad of the best performances presented at the festival.
  • To establish professional contacts between artists and managers from Bulgaria and abroad

The Festival is organized by State Puppet Theatre – Plovdiv and non-profitable organization International Puppet thearte festival “Three are too many – two – not enough” under the patronage of the Plovdiv Municipality, the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, and the Bulgarian Center of UNIMA. Other non-profit organizations are also welcomed to become co-organizers of the Festival. The festival is biennale and takes place in the beginning of September.

From this year they will start an additional festival event, called “TheatAir” devoted only to street performances and shows.
