Ferenc Török, Hungary, 2017, 91'

Movie 1945 takes place in a Hungarian village in the shadow of Russian occupation. The town clerk’s son István, is due to marry Kisrózsi, a peasant girl. While Kisrózsi wants to marry Péter to become a member of the bourgeoisie, she still harbours feelings for her previous fiancé Jancsi. One day two mysterious bearded strangers appear at the railway station in town. They are Sámuel and his son, a family of orthodox Jews who have come to the village with trunks transporting goods. The villagers are afraid ofthem for most of them have profited off the deportation of the Jews in their village. In fact István himself played a crucial role in forsaking the local Jews.
