Medieval Days in Ljubljana - September 10 and 11, 2005
Festival of Medieval and Renaissance Music and Medieval Day
On September 10 and 11 different locations in Ljubljana will host the traditional Festival of medieval and Renaissance Music and the Medieval Day /Tromostovje, Citypark, Zvezda Park, Ljubljana castle): MINI TEATER in co-operation with the Festival Ljubljana and supported by the Board of tourism and the Municipality of Ljubljana(Department od Culture) prepared an interesting and variegated program with musicians, dancers, fencers and other artists from Croatia, Italy, Check Republic and Slovenia. The main events will take place on Sunday on Ljubljana Castle. At 10:00 the medieval market will open and the camp will be set up outside the Castle walls. At 10:00 a mass will take place in the Castle Chapel. at 11:00 there will be an Archer Tournament with the Award for the best archer given by the Goverbor of the Country. At 14:00 the knight from the Dukedom of Kranj, from Italy, Dalamatia, from the Check Dukedom and other countries will gather in the Zvezda Park and march across Tromostovje all the way up to the Castle. The peak event will take place at 16:00 with the reverence of all the knights to the Governos of the Dukedom, Sigmund von Sebriach, which will be followed by the performances of different groups: Moreska from the Croatian island Korčula, the Italian group of sbandieratori from Castiglion Fiorentino, the knight group from Prague, the music group Remdih, the children group Lusatia Consort from Prague, several music and dance groups, the Knights of the Dukedom of Kranj, the Knights of the Round Table from Snežnik, the Knights and Dames from kamnik and Žužemberk, the Knights of Gašper lambergar from Bled, jugglers, fencers, dancers, horsemen and others.
In case of bad weather all performances will take place in Palacij Hall and in MINI TEATER hall on Ljubljana Castle. A free city-bus transport will take you from Streliška Street to the Castle all Sunday long.
