A performance about the always interesting subject of children who are left at home all alone and are unaware of the dangers that may be present.

The performance is based on the well-known Grimm's fairy tale The Wolf and the Seven Goatlings. The inspiration for the show came from the ever-popular theme of children left home alone and aware of the dangers that lurk for them. The show in 2001 was the directorial debut of Robert Waltl, then a graduate of acting at the AGRFT in Ljubljana, later an actor at the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre, founder and director of Mini teater and organiser of numerous children's events in Slovenia. The art design was prepared by painter Daniel Demšar, who, in addition to his artistic work, is involved in designing sets, costumes and puppets for all the most prominent puppet theatres in Slovenia. He has created numerous human, animal and imaginary creatures to enhance the verbal messages of puppet shows. The music, which is based on ethno motifs, has been given a modern twist by Peter Kus, a composer who has scored several dance, children's shows and silent films, a former leader of the Pavel Vlasov Sextet and a member of the ethno group Tolovaj Mataj.

About the performance

Mother Goat is a single parent who has to bring up her goatlings all by herself. In spite of the danger this poses, she has to go out of the woods and fetch some food. Before leaving, she warns the children to beware of the Wolf. But as the clever trickster he is, the Wolf still manages to deceive them. As they open the door, he shoves them all in a sack and runs away with them. Having witnessed what happened to the goatlings, the neighbors - the Duck Ignatius and his wife Amalia - warn their mother, help her find the Wolf and finally rescue the goatlings.
