Opening night of performance Jackie in Zagreb and Ljubljana

In the end of January and in the beginning of February, the Ljubljana theatre Mini teater in co-production with three Croatian theatres will present the performance JACKIE written by the Austrian writer and Nobel Prize recipient, Elfriede Jelinek. The first performance in Zagreb will take place on Wednesday, January 30, at the Zekaem, the Zagreb Youth Theatre. The Slovenian opening night will follow on Friday, February 8 at 20:00 in the Mini teater theatre hall on Ljubljana Castle. This co-production performance was directed by Ivica Buljan; with the music created by the Split group TBF the theatre piece will be performed by the actress Senka Bulić and the dancer Matija Ferlin.

Jackie is the deconstruction of one of the greatest myths of the western society, the one about Jackie Kennedy Onassis. The Nobel Prize recipient Elfriede Jelinek wrote Jackie as the fourth part of her Drama of the Princesses, where she – as parallel to Shakespeare's cycle about the kings – brings to life the role of a woman through famous female personalities, from Snow White to Lady Diane.

Jackie appears in three dimensions: as a real citizen Jaqueline Bouvier, as a fashion icon of the photographers, and as the media Jackie. In this way she becomes a multiple personality abandoning one role for the other without ever finding her true identity.

The Croatian opening night took place in Dubrovnik within the festival Karantena in August 2007, the first performance in Zagreb on January 30 will be followed by three reprises. Beside Mini teater Ljubljana, the co-producers are Novo Kazalište Zagreb, Zagrebačko kazalište Mladih and Art Radionica Lazareti Dubrovnik.
