MEDIEVAL DAY IN LJUBLJANA AND 10th FESTIVAL OF MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE MUSIC
On LJUBLJANA CASTLE, DIFFERENT settings, creative workshops, concerts, performances, medieval market, knights, musicians and actors

On Wednesday, 19th of August 2009, at 8pm in City Museum of Ljubljana the 10th Festival of Medieval and Renaissance Music, organized by Mini teater, began with the concert of Spanish medieval music group Tasto Solo. The festival will end with the Medieval day 2009 on 27th September 2009.

On Medieval day 2009, many different artists will perform, among others renowned ensemble for historic music Minstrel, Zagreb, music group Gallus Consort, Trieste and master musician for historic instruments Janez Jocif, Škofja Loka and Ljoba Jenče that will perform a concert as well as a workshop for children and youth.

This year’s Medieval day 2009, that will be held on Sunday, 27th of September, from 10am to 7pm, is especially appropriate for kids as, apart from musical workshops and concerts on Ljubljana Castle, many different creative workshops made especially for the youngest will be organized. Cultural Art Society SREDINA (KUD Sredina) in cooperation with Mini teater is responsible for the children’s program. Kids will be able to participate on workshops of felting, carving, queens dance workshops, jewellery construction, copper forming and try their abilities in esquire school.

Theme of this year’s event is the famous story of Makalonca by Fran Saleški Finžgar and main character Petrus. As in the story Makalonca, Petrus overcame the problems and builds his character; the kids will, with the help of mentors on workshops, build their knowledge of medieval times, learn different abilities and participate in artistic creation.
