POSTDRAMA THEATRE PROGRAMME

LOVE'S END

THURSDAY, 28TH OF NOVEMBER  2013 AT 4.30 PM

Location: Mini teater Ljubljana, Križevniška 1

A play about love and broken relationships. About what happens when a couple is separating, when one of the two decides to leave. »At a time when theatre is dominated by concepts and reinterpretation, Rambert hit the bull's eye of a relationship between a man and a woman,« explains the director Ivica Buljan. The trap in Love’s End is that love story of the title. »The play does not pit one lover against the other,« says the author of the text Pascal Rambert. »That would be too easy. I’m trying rather to draw two trajectories that, at a certain point, find a form of freedom after an impossible suffering.«

ROBERTO ZUCCO

PREMIERE: THURSDAY, 28TH OF NOVEMBER 2013 AT 9 PM

Location: Mini teater Ljubljana, Križevniška 1

Based on an infamous true story, Roberto Zucco the play concerns a charismatic serial murderer - a young, lost soul who philosophically seduces his prey, driven by forces he can’t control. He then surrenders, albeit hesitantly, to those forces as if he’s been chosen by some cosmic instinct to act on them. A cruel play, written close to the playwright’s death, but it’s also syrupy sweet at times, proof that Koltès felt sentiment and forgiveness toward the generally foul lot of characters he had drawn. After all, they’re only behaving as they’re expected to behave, caught in the absurd hurricane of an antihero’s preemptive fate.

BARTLEBY THE SCRIVENER

FRIDAY, 29TH OF NOVEMBER 2013 AT 5.30 PM

Location: Mini teater Ljubljana, Križevniška 1

Bartleby The Scrivener is a surprisingly current short story by the American classical writer, Herman Melville, known almost exclusively for his novel Moby Dick. Bartleby, or »the most famous story of Wall Street,« is based on Bartleby’s seemingly simple answer:  »I’d prefer not to.« This is his unexpected response to the request from his superior, the narrator, to help with some office work. After this initial defiance, Bartleby continues to counter all requests and demands with the compelling »I’d prefer not to« or »I’d rather not.« This earns him the right to survive, that is to say, the right to passive insistence.

Performance after the inspiration and by combining the texts of J. D. Salinger and B.-M. Koltès. Three monologues of performance symbolically represent a new fictive world that separates and presents itself as real and as a continuation of theatrical and literature space. While organizing the logic of the scenery montage themes that the performance opens are versatile and everyday: death of a child, dispersion of family, American democracy, war in Vietnam, relationship between classic and contemporary theatre, the art of warfare, inability of communication between children and parents, power and isolation. With strong performances by Senka Bulić and Marko Mandić giving us an in-depth understanding of Salinger's and Koltès's texts.

MACBETH AFTER SHAKESPEARE

SATURDAY, 30TH OF NOVEMBER 2013 AT 3.30 PM

Location: Mini teater Ljubljana, Križevniška 1

Grand prix of Maribor Theatre Festival. The jury of 44th BTF decrees that the performance of Macbeth after Shakespeare grows in the aesthetic, holistic and at the first sight incontrollable organism in a body of performance that always with dramaturgic and directory thought out ideas leads the performers on by the ledges of pure power and uncontrollably pulls the viewer into its current. Macbeth’s raw performance enfolds in a direct closeness of the viewer that, if he wants it or not, becomes a part of this hellish and ultimately stripped performance.

Acclaimed critic,Randy Gener declares Macbeth After Shakespeare among the world's best theater of 2011 in the arts-and-culture magazine In the theater of One World. He describes Macbeth After Shakespeare as "stunning" and "a revelation".

TO HAVE DONE WITH JUDGEMENT OF GOD PART ONE

SATURDAY, 30TH OF NOVEMBER 2013 AT 9 PM

Location: Mini teater Ljubljana, Križevniška 1

The concert-performance-installation To have done with judgement of God Part One by the author Senka Bulić was created with a set of texts by one of the most interesting authors in theatre, Antonin Artaud. It is material that was so subversive that a radio director decided to remove the show from his program. Senka Bulić passes the text through her body as a performer, through her voice, and through sounds, music and visual installations. In combination with Tomislav Ćurković, visual artist and musician, and Oliver Jularić, costume designer, the concept of the performance is based on the installation of the scene, the voice and the visuals. The deconstruction of the image of Joan of Arc (1865- John Everett Millais) is inserted into Arnaud’s material.

SNOW WHITE

THURSDAY, 28TH OF NOVEMBER 2013 AT 11 AM AND 5 PM

Location: Mini teater at Ljubljana Castle

The story of Snow White comes to life as a whitty, live and sarcastic comment on the actual state of the world but maintains all the vital fairytale motives that are the red line of this performance. Fairytale heroes of this Snow White e are not set in the magical surroundings of the enchanted forest, poisoned apples, idyllic nature and supernatural kisses. This time the modern fairytale situations are set in the dark mining town, where - with the help of modern accessories - they also point out the ecological crisis and uncontrolled pollution of the environment. But of course, the evil stepmother, magical mirror, mischievous likable elves and the savior will not be missing even in this Snow White.

The first virtual puppet show is a mixture of film and puppet performance in a virtual computer environment. Characters from fairy-tale come to life on screen and, assisted by the one animator and the audience, try to save the heroine from troubles. The story is set in virtual space which is open and flexible. Each situation consists of at least two different solutions. Assisted by the animator, the children then determine the characters and the course of events in a specific situation. Wishing to make the operation of complex technology attractive to children, the authors also encourage them to play the role of animator after the performance and stir the protagonists to life.
