Traditional reading of all the names of Slovene victims of Holocaust.

UNVEILING OF THE MEMORIAL PLAQUE AT ŽIDOVSKA STEZA 4 IN LJUBLJANA

The City Municipality of Ljubljana and the Jewish Cultural Centre will unveil a memorial plaque in memory of the former Jewish community of Ljubljana at Judovka steza 4 in Ljubljana, where three used to be Ljubljana’s former Synagogue.  The plaque will be unveiled by the mayor of Ljubljana, mister Zoran Jankovič, and the director of the Jewish Cultural Centre, mister Robert Waltl. Guest of honour and speaker will be dr. Andrej Pančur. This will be the first memorial commemorating the historical presence of the Jewish community in the capital city of Slovenia.

FRIDAY, 27.1. 2017, 20.00 – Slovene premiere of the theatre performance The Jewish Dog.

TUESDAY, 31. 1. 2017, 19:00 – Presentation of the book The Land of Shadows: Memory of Deportation and Disappearance of the Jewish Community in Prekmurje, published with the help of the Academy of Design and Education WIZO in Haifa, and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU). In the new edition, the authors Oto Luthar and Martin Pogačar talk about the fate of Jew form Prekmujre during the war, and Israeli students Yara Hirsh and Natalie Shimony, who also took care of the book design, add their own interpretation of that part of history. The work on this joint project, initiated by Alenka Suhadolnik, former ambassador of Slovenia in Israel, was caught on camera by the director Hanna Szentpeteri who then made a touching documentary.
