21^st International Mini teater's Festival for Children

26^th June - 1^st September 2019

Jubilee 20^th Mini summer is behind us. You are kindly invited to be active during the summer and spend beautiful and creative days with us. This year all the performances for children and creative workshops will be held in Mini teater and on Križevniška Street in front of theatre. We will experience two memorable months of various events. Let's spend them together every Sunday from the end of June till the beginning of September.

Opening of the 21^st festival Mini Summer

17:00 after motives of brothers Grimm - Vesselin Boidev: The Frog King
Location: Križevniška ulica (in case of rain in Mini teater)

This is a story about a Princess who lost her golden ball and a Frog who finds the ball in puddle and brings it back to the Princess. But in return for the golden ball, the Frog demands the Princess' love. The story deals with the ever-present demand for compromise and its message is dedicated at all young princesses. It points out the possibility of looking at things from a different point of view - what at first sight may seem ugly, usually requires us to have some patience in order to discover its true beauty.

18:00 THEATRE ON THE STREET - Party of the Birds
Location: Križevniška ulica (in case of rain in Mini teater)

The street will be our theatre. Birds that we will create will fly with our help. They will conquer the space, sky and our street. They will playfully dance with us. With Mateja Lukežič.

11:00 Frane Milčinski Ježek: Little Sleepy Star
Location: Mini teater - Križevniška 1

There is a star on the sky, who puts children to sleep, leads sailors over the see and helps the poet find proper rhymes. She has long, golden hair and goes by the name Little sleepy star. She often oversleeps and is late for work, and therefore she creates a chaos on the Earth. Children cry, sailors don't find their way and poet doesn't find rhyme for the word 'pot'. Mr. Moon sends her on Earth. She can return to the sky, when she proves she is smart enough to return.

Sunday, 7^th July 2019
11:00 Hans Christian Andersen: The Little Match Girl
Location: Mini teater, Križevniška 1

This is a story about hope, despair and love, placed in quickly changing time of industrialization. Inequality and poverty are widespread among children. Cities namely attract impoverished villagers. Our task is not to accept Andersen's explanation that death redeems everybody. We must find solution for the poor with love and compassion.

We will make a mask that will help us transform into various, multi-coloured, vivacious birds. Tweeting, whistling and chirrups will wake our sleepy street. Maybe we will even fly.
