About the show

The solitary bear is convinced that he doesn't like visitors. It even has a sign on the door: DO NOT DISTURB, NO VISITS ALLOWED! But one day, a small grey mouse knocks on the door and is not to be scared away. The bear gets angry and resists the persistent visit until something surprising happens...

This lively story with plenty of situational comedy is one of the most acclaimed American picture books of recent years. A picture book about friendship that has already become a classic.

The artists about the performance

Ivana Djilas: It's amazing what this bear of ours is prepared to do to protect himself, to make sure that no one comes near him. And what he is prepared to sacrifice. If he could just use a little bit of that inventiveness, energy and enthusiasm to meet a little grey mouse with glowing eyes, his life would immediately be more fun. The bear is safe in his house, he is comfortable, and he is fed, but he is also lonely. The mouse is ready to help him, if only he could get past the sign on the door: DO NOT DISTURB, NO VISITS ALLOWED. Luckily for Bear, the mouse is not so easily repelled. It's a good thing there are mice in the world.

Murat: Although Jose and I have been working together for more than 20 years, this is the first time we've worked together in a puppet show. Since I have worked with Ivana in one show at the MGL, it is perhaps a little easier for me because I already know a little bit about her way of working. The work is sometimes exhausting but at the same time fun. We laugh the most at Brane's jokes. I think the performance will be entertaining and educational.

Jose: We are working on making the show not only entertaining, but also puppet-animation perfected. It's always a challenge for me to work with Ivana, because she is very precise in her dramaturgical analysis of the flow of the story and doesn't settle too quickly for the solutions that are offered. We make a great team and I can't wait for the performance to start.

Vesna Kuzmič: "A Visit for Bear" is about a bear who doesn't want visits. But his peace is disturbed by a small grey mouse, who refuses to be pushed away. The mouse wants his company, but the bear thinks he is an intruder. But despite the bear's desperate attempts to get rid of the mouse for good, they end up becoming friends. Jose animates the bear, I animate the mouse. Murat accompanies us with sounds. We create a very dynamic performance with a series of comic situations. I'm excited about the new challenge, as it's my first time working with a table puppet. Brane Vižintin is a great help with the puppetry technique. The process is intense and fun. We have a good chemistry with the team. I enjoy seeing how skilful Jose is in manipulating the bear, and how creative Murat is in creating the sound atmosphere. I am also very happy to work with Ivana Djilas. Ivana is a very sensitive director who creates shows for children with a lot of responsibility, because she wants the children to have fun with the show and also to get a positive message and a good message for the future.
