Skype presentation with author (Jelena Subotić, USA) and participants: dr Kaja Širok (moderator) with Robert Waltl, director of Jewish Cultural Center Ljubljana and Jelena Đurović, journalist, film critic, chairwoman of Organization for Jewish Cooperation in Southeastern Europe.

Yellow Star, Red Star: Holocaust Remembrance after Communism asks why Holocaust memory continues to be so deeply troubled—ignored, appropriated, and obfuscated—throughout Eastern Europe, even though it was in those lands that most of the extermination campaign occurred. Jelena Subotić is Professor of Political Science at Georgia State University in Atlanta, USA. She is the author of Hijacked Justice: Dealing with the Past in the Balkans (Cornell University Press, 2009), Yellow Star, Red Star: Holocaust Remembrance after Communism (Cornell University Press, 2019) and many scholarly articles on identity, political memory, and politics of the Western Balkans.
