Six stories of women from the inter-war and post-war period about how to survive in a time when survival is not a given. How to keep the peace when chaos rages outside, how to adjust one's words, actions and soul so that one remains at least approximately whole inside and out. Where do they meet and how do ethics and survival intertwine in such moments, what is to be talked about and what is better kept silent.
