Mini teater celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Since it was foundet in 1999, our theatre has been opening its doors to young theatre artists providing them with the space and resources for their creations. That is why we have decided that 2024 will be focused on young artists and their theatre projects.
Since the opening of the theatre, we have premiered 157 performances within children's and post-drama programme. As 2024 comes to an end, we look back on a very successful and extremely productive theatre year, in which we staged 10 new productions: The Wolf and the Goatlings, The Dreamers or A Love Story in the Revolution, Get off My Back, Long Day's Journey into Night, The Mermaid, The Ballad of the Trumpet and the Cloud, The Art of Survival, Hansel and Gretel, Odessa Stories / The Story of My Dovecote and One Last Sleep. In total, almost 90 theatre different artists took part in this year's productions, including more than 40 self-employed artists and 20 students. Five productions were created by young theatre teams and 5 out of 10 were co-productions.
Throughout the year, in addition to new productions, we also staged our performances from previous years. Unitl the end of the year, we will performe in total more than 180 performances in children's and post-drama programmes on, our stage and on tour in Slovenia and abroad. During the year theatres from Slovenia and abroad have showen their productions at Mini teater, we have performed our plays for primary and high schools as part of our educational programme with talks with pupils and students. Besides that we organised numerous other programmes, such as the Festival House of Tolerance, Križevniška Neighbour Day, film screenings, educational mornings for young audiences, book promotions, exhibitions, concerts and literary evenings. For the end of very succsessful year, we also organise in cooperation with Tourism Ljubljana the traditional Grandfather Frost parades.
First premiere in 2025 will be the authorial project Nafta by director Jan Krmelj. The creative team will also include dramaturg Jernej Potočan, set designer Lin Japelj, costume designer Brina Vidic and video director Filip Mramor. The cast will include Jernej Gašperin, Diana Kolenc, Mojka Končar, Gašper Lovrec and Lucija Ostan Vejrup. The premiere is scheduled for 28 February 2025.
