Our sincere congratulations to Miranda Trnjanin for her more than well-deserved 2024 Sever award for her role in our production of Norma Jeanne Baker Trojanska and for her roles in the productions of Ljubimki (SMG), Juriš (SLG Celje) and Kot vsa svobodna dekleta (PG Kranj).
The jury, composed of Zala Dobovšek (President), Branko Jordan, Staša Mihelčič and Barbara Rogelj, wrote: "In Anne Carson's Norma Jeane Baker Trojanska, as one of the three characters of Norma Jeane, Trnjanin demonstrates her mastery of in-depth stage psychologisations. Through the fragments of a non-linear narrative, she draws parallels between Helen of Troy and Marilyn Monroe, crystallising a distinctly unconventional, fresh and daring stage portrayal of a woman. Trnjanin does not act as expected here, but with every glance subverts the oppressive systems that frame the protagonists, implicitly creating a critical dialogue with the position of the actress in Slovenian theatre. Through breaking the fourth wall, acting in the play and singing, Trnjanin proves herself to be a highly resourceful actress with a wide range, whose great strength is also reflected in her silent presence on stage. Trnjanin plays unconventional positions in Norma Jeane Baker Trojanska, making her stage creation at the same time a site of social struggle for emancipation and equality."
Dear Miranda, sincere congratulations from the Mini Teater team!
