At the closing of the 36th Pipin Festival in Velenje, Gaja Filač received the Golden Pika Award for Best Actress, presented by the Pippi Jury – a panel of nine-year-old pupils from Velenje’s primary schools. She was honored for her role in the production Hansel and Gretel, a co-production of the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor and Mini Teater Ljubljana, which recently delighted audiences on the Pippi Stage.
Among the festival’s most prestigious awards is precisely the Golden Pika, which recognizes outstanding stage achievements by professional theatres and creators for children. What makes it truly special is that the winners are chosen by the children themselves – jury members who are the same age as Pippi Longstocking and her friends Tommy and Annika. These young judges have both an important and joyful task: selecting the best production and actor/actress, while at the same time discovering the magic of theatre and broadening their horizons. This year, three productions competed for the recognition: Heidi, Hansel and Gretel, and The Cow Who Barked at the Moon.
Congratulations to Gaja Filač!
