3rd World Puppetry Day

3rd World Puppetry Day

On Monday, March 21 2005, Slovene puppeteers and their colleagues from all over the world will celebrate their 3rd World Day of puppet theatre and puppets. To honour this Day, many puppet theatres in Slovenia - Mini teater, KUD France Prešeren , Hiša otrok in umetnosti - will organise free performances.

The idea to celebrate came from the national board of the international puppet  union UNIMA. This Day was first celebrated by Slovene puppeteers and their colleagues worldwide in the year 2002. The greatest merits for this celebration go to the general secretary of the national UNIMA board, Rober Waltl, who is also a successful art director and manager of Mini teater, Ljubljana. In the occasion of the 18th Unima congress in the year 2000 (Magdeburg, Germany), it was decided that puppeteers should have their special day, so March 21st has become the World Day of Puppets and Puppetry Art.

You are all invited to celebrate with us in all our puppet theatres from 19th to 21st March . We prepared a special programme for free.

On Monday, March 21, Mini teater is presenting the performance BLACK KITCHEN in its theatre on Ljubljana Castle. The performance is a mixture of puppet and theatre performing, story-telling and folk-music concert. You can collect free tickets at the Mini teater cash box one hour before the performance.
